It had tons of tiny dents, the door didnt line up at all and.....actuwlly yeah, it wasnt too bad

Vehicles that old typically don't have the straightest body panels.
They weren't that great from the factory and have probably been "adjusted" several times over it's life.
I replaced a door on my 72 Cutlass when I restored it. You'd think that a door from a car that should be the same would line up better, but it doesn't.
Little dings and panel gaps are often forgiven. They're have hard old lives and were built by factory workers not robots.

If that is what passes for bad condition in your book you would probably have a heart attack if you saw my '71 El Camino!
